INSELGRÜN - the 24/7 open neighborhood and educational garden

Continuation of the urban garden as part of the IBA27 network project "Kulturinsel und inovatives wohnen".

The Kulturinsel Stuttgart and Inselgrün is located in the middle of Stuttgart's second largest construction site (after Stuttgart 21). Our urban garden Inselgrün is an unusual learning and community garden. Due to the Neckarpark development project, the garden had to move from its original site in Oct. 2019 and only 64 HochBeete have found a new home in the parking lot nafter two moves. Now the Kulturinsel has to move to an interim solution during the core renovation and the refinancing is almost suspended. Unfortunately, with the new burden of relocation in 2024, financial resources are no longer sufficient for the realization of many projects. We would like to implement the following (partial) projects on island green: A visitor tour with guidance system, audio guide, QR codes with background information in different languages and showcases offer exciting insights into gardening, plant and animal science. The whole thing is extended with a "wild classroom": an offer for school classes and young people to understand and experience nature with all their senses. It is intended to raise awareness in the areas of nutrition, the environment, biodiversity and species diversity. Workshops on plant science, kitchen gardens, wild herbs or cooking courses are to be offered throughout the year. Under the name "Art and Nature United" we would also like to implement sustainable events with art and music elements on island greens or in the courtyard of the Kulturinsel. Volunteers meet regularly and implement joint projects. Inselgrün should also provide freiRaum for partner projects. An example of this would be Zora gGmbH (traumatized women garden together). At the same time, we also offer bed sponsorships to take care of a bed. In addition to the exciting and diverse projects, Inselgrün also invites people to linger and beautifies our district.
