On the way to a sustainable economy, it is not only important to develop new technologies and innovative processes, these must also be passed on to the next generations of scientists and decision-makers. For this reason, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports junior research groups in the natural, engineering and IT sciences that contribute to a resource-efficient economy by researching and developing innovative approaches.
Funding is provided for the provision of new tools and methods and the optimization of value-added processes as well as the development of novel bio-based products and the use of biomass for energy production.
Companies receive subsidies of up to 50% of their eligible costs over a maximum period of 5 years. Small and medium-sized enterprises, provided they meet the criteria set by the EU for SMEs, can receive an additional financial grant.
