In order to motivate people to prefer getting from A to B on foot or by bike, good bike and pedestrian paths are an important prerequisite. For this reason, the state of Baden-Württemberg would like to support companies and municipalities that optimize the infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists as part of the State Municipal Transport Financing Act. The funding takes the form of a grant and covers a maximum of half of the expenditure.

For example, funding is provided for the construction or expansion of separate bicycle and pedestrian paths or bicycle parking spaces. The optimization of pedestrian paths with seating and sanitary facilities can also be eligible for funding.

For bicycle parking facilities and for seating and sanitary facilities, the grant is based on a flat rate depending on the infrastructure. The lump sum amounts to between EUR 120 and EUR 30,000 per object, depending on the type of project.

Municipalities, districts and local authorities as well as municipal associations are eligible to apply. In addition, companies and building load carriers can also benefit from the funding program.
