How can you assess whether your own residential building is energy-efficient? At what point does a renovation pay off? And how can it be financed?

Comprehensive energy consulting can be expensive, but in many cases it makes sense. For this reason, the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control subsidizes energy consulting for tenants and landlords.

Within the framework of an energy consultation for residential buildings, you will be shown how you can best save energy. To do this, we first determine the energy requirements of your building. Based on the results, a concept for renovation will be drawn up. This includes suggestions for modernization measures for your building that are aimed at reducing energy requirements. In addition, you will receive tips on how to finance these measures, for example, which subsidies you can apply for. You will receive the results of the energy consultation not only verbally, but also in writing.

The grant for the consultation is 80%, up to a maximum of €1,300 (for one- and two-family houses) or €1,700 (for residential buildings with a minimum of three residential units). The subsidy is paid to the energy consultancy responsible for you. However, they are obliged to reduce your fee by the subsidized amount, so that the subsidy is thus paid indirectly to you.

More information about the requirements and the application process can be found on the BAFA website: www.bafa.de/DE/Energie/Energieberatung/Energieberatung_Wohngebaeude/Beratene/beratene_node.html.
