A large number of resources on which our current economic system is based are finite or only grow back slowly. Therefore, we need new, innovative processes that make the life cycle of a product from production to disposal as resource-efficient as possible.
This may include the use of new materials, further integration of closed-loop thinking, and better recycling options. Raising sustainability awareness and education on resource use should also be promoted more strongly in society.
The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Environmental Foundation) therefore supports SMEs in pre-competitive projects, including the design of new processes that increase resource efficiency, the replacement of environmentally harmful resources with more compatible resources, the development of educational concepts on sustainability and the reduction of harmful emissions.
