Valuable resources must find their way back into the economic cycle after the end of life of a product in which they were used. Unfortunately, this is currently too often not the case, which is particularly problematic in the case of raw materials that pollute the environment.
The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment) would like to support the path to a consistent circular economy in the area of valuable raw materials and therefore promotes various initiatives.
These include measures that use education to ensure that the idea of a circular economy is more firmly anchored and that young people and children in particular are taught the importance of resource use at an early age.
The replacement of environmentally harmful raw materials with less problematic raw materials, such as the recovery of raw materials at the end of a product's life, is also promoted. Measures that make the use of phosphorus-containing material flows and phosphorus recovery processes environmentally friendly and use digital technologies to set up processes that benefit environmental protection are also eligible for funding.
