Many climate protection measures can be implemented within a neighborhood. Synergies can be exploited through intelligent networking, thus reducing the use of resources. This works, for example, through local heating networks or the use of renewable energy that is generated, stored and used within the neighborhood. Both the infrastructure in the neighborhood and the participation of the residents play a major role.
The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment) therefore promotes a series of measures that serve to design innovative and intelligent neighborhood solutions and lead to a more efficient use of resources. These can relate to strategic and technical elements on the one hand, and to participation and communication elements on the other.
