The human way of life poses a challenge to nature, but also to our own cultural assets. Climate change and pollution from chemicals, etc., are attacking both cultural assets and landscapes. New methods, procedures and products are needed to protect and maintain the latter.
The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment) therefore promotes initiatives that are dedicated to the protection of valuable cultural assets, use new gentle restoration methods and develop concepts to agree on the protection of the natural, monumental and cultural landscape.
Approaches that also involve children and young people in the subject, for example through voluntary work, are also supported by the foundation.
