Refrigerators can "eat up" an enormous amount of energy, especially if they are older models.

For this reason, the city of Stuttgart has introduced the "Refrigerator Exchange" subsidy program.

Households and organizations based in Stuttgart can receive a subsidy of up to 150 euros if they replace their refrigerator, fridge-freezer combination, freezer or chest freezer that is at least 15 years old with a new appliance. The prerequisite is that the new appliance must comply with the highest energy efficiency class. The energy efficiency rating refers to the EU energy label, which can now be found on many products.
