You want e-mobility from A to B? The question for you is: How do I find the right e-mobility offer for me?

The city's e-mobility advisory service will help you! And here Mr Kolb gives us some initial insights:

Mr Kolb, you offer e-mobility advice in Stuttgart. How has the topic developed over the last few years?

Over the last year since the initial consultation was set up, the number of enquiries has steadily increased. We notice that more and more citizens are concerned about electromobility. This can be seen not least in the continuing sharp rise in the number of new registrations. And already today, around 22,000 e-vehicles are registered in Stuttgart. A few years ago, that seemed unthinkable. And especially as petrol prices continue to rise, but also as the general conditions for electromobility continue to improve, more and more people are thinking about making the switch. The funding landscape is also very dynamic: the federal government, the state and also the local authorities regularly develop new programmes to promote the drive revolution. We are happy to advise all Stuttgart residents on the options available to them. And we do this independently and free of charge.

Who mainly comes to you for advice?

The majority of questions come from private individuals who are considering switching to electromobility. The questions range from basic questions or subsidies to complex projects in rows of garages with many owners and stakeholders involved. But we are also approached by Stuttgart entrepreneurs to examine the possibilities for a changeover. The range is very wide.

What are the most frequently asked questions?

There are many questions about the public charging infrastructure: "Where are new charging points being built? We have now summarised many of these questions in a FAQ.

We are currently expanding the Stuttgart charging network: by the end of the year we will have more than doubled the number of public charging points. Over 1,000 will then be available in public spaces.

The question: "where can I charge my car?" is on many people's minds - and rightly so. Many people are also considering how the establishment of private charging infrastructure can succeed. Here, too, we support to the best of our ability. And we are often the first point of contact. We provide an overview of current funding opportunities and tips for successful implementation.

Where is the greatest leverage for climate-friendly mobility? What potential is still most untapped?

A great deal of potential lies in the hands of citizens: many parking spaces, especially in homeowners' associations, can be electrified if owners cooperate. Wise investments can already be made here today to make the property fit for the electromobile future. This requires forward-looking planning and constructive cooperation. As a city, we want to encourage and support this.

This potential also exists in detached rows of garages. Initial examples show that this can be achieved. For individual owners, the initial investment costs often seem too high. However, this can quickly be compensated for through cooperation among the owners and support from the city. Here, there is often still a lack of practical experience with the advantages of electromobility. But now is the time to act.

There is also still great potential in commercial fleets and delivery traffic, which we want to exploit even more. For taxi companies, for example, we offer targeted additional advice and financial support for changing drive systems. In one year, each taxi could cover around 55,000 km on electric power.

For delivery traffic, we commissioned a concept to enable a changeover in the city centre. Furthermore, companies can make a big contribution by providing charging infrastructure for their employees. Furthermore, private land owners - companies, petrol station operators, supermarkets, etc. - can offer their land in the FlächenTool for operators of charging infrastructure.

What do you think an online community like the Climate Community can do to increase the impact of your work? Because most of us are on the road every day - a huge potential for reducing emissions and energy consumption if we do it well, right?

Yes, the potential is very great in Stuttgart! By switching to electric mobility, people who depend on a car can make a positive contribution to reducing CO2. And at the same time improve the air quality in Stuttgart.

There is huge potential to become more sustainable. We can achieve great things by combining energy and mobility, e.g. through photovoltaics and electric mobility.

The framework conditions for this are now in place: the technology is mature and attractive, and subsidies are available. For example, through the Stuttgart Solar Offensive. The technology now needs to be rolled out across the board, and the best way to do that is through good examples in the immediate, visible environment. An online community for the exchange of experiences is very helpful in making role models and progress visible in Stuttgart.

You see - we can make a difference. Share your experiences - encourage others; it's worth it!
