Today I'd like to do another post on life hacks. Life hacks are micro strategies and techniques that make our lives a little easier. So a more sustainable lifestyle consists of countless life hacks that show us how to reduce greenhouse gases and protect our environment. One place that generates a particularly large amount of waste is the bathroom. Here, I've been inspired by a few life hacks that help me reduce my environmental impact.

1. Easily done and widely known: Replace the plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush. Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource, unlike plastic that is made from petroleum. Bamboo is also very resistant: no pesticides need to be used in its cultivation. A final plus: bamboo is biodegradable, unlike plastic.

2. toilet paper & bathroom waste: those who buy their toilet paper at the unpackaged store are, of course, doing it best. Those of us who don't live right around the corner from Bulk or Without Pla can at least ensure that toilet packaging is effectively reused: This is because it makes a wonderful garbage bag for bathroom trash!

3) Avoid microplastics: In many shampoos and shower gels, not only the packaging is made of plastic, but the contents themselves also contain microplastics. Although microplastics have been banned in toothpastes since 2014, a lot of plastic is used for the packaging here as well. Here it is usually more sustainable to switch to "solid" alternatives. Shampoos and shower gels are available as bar soaps, for example, and toothpaste tablets can also be used instead of toothpaste. The plastic-free drugstore Ohne Pla Pla in Stuttgart offers a great assortment here.

4 Do It Yourself: Then you know what's in it and can save on packaging waste. Shampoo, shower gel, and deodorant are easy and quick to make yourself. Utopia offers an overview of various shampoo recipes here: Organic Shampoo selber machen: so geht's - Utopia.de. You can also find various recipes for shower gels and deodorants at Utopia.

5. cleaning products: On Utopia you can find out which five household products you should have in your cleaning cupboard. Make your own cleaning products: from 5 natural household products - Utopia.de

I'm happy if you know more life hacks and share them with me!
