When it comes to saving energy, the classic tips are: Turn off the lights, turn down the heat and turn off electronic devices. In the last year, however, I've learned three new ways to save energy that I hadn't thought of before and that are quite easy to implement.

1. 75% of the energy used for washing is used to heat the water. Therefore, it makes a huge difference whether you set it to 20°C, 30°C or 40°C. Since I know this, I use the 30°C wash cycle much more often (thanks to CO2Online for this tip).

2. download Spotify playlists instead of streaming over and over again! It's a well-known fact that streaming - whether it's Netflix, YouTube or Spotify - is very energy-intensive. That's why I now listen to my favorite bands offline pretty much all the time :)

3. forward emails without attachments. Instead of attaching the PowerPoint or PDF document, I prefer to link the location. Of course, this only works if the documents are available to everyone. Nevertheless, I find this tip very helpful.

Was there anything new for you? Have you learned anything new about saving energy in the last few months?
