Terms and conditions for the #jetztklimachen-Preis Stuttgart 2023

Participation in the #jetztklimachen-Preis is only possible under the conditions listed here. By participating, participants accept the following conditions of participation.

1. Organizer

The #jetztklimachen-Preis is organised by the City of Stuttgart (Climate Protection Department), Marktplatz 1, 70173 Stuttgart (hereinafter "City of Stuttgart"), in cooperation with Klima Community Stuttgart e.V., Silcherstraße 9, 70771 Leinfelden-Echterdingen (hereinafter "Climate Community Stuttgart"). The announcement of the #jetztklimachen-Preis will be made public by the City of Stuttgart; participation and submission of projects will take place digitally via the platform of the Klima-Community Stuttgart.

2. Aim

The aim of the competition is to motivate the citizens of Stuttgart to take the initiative within the framework of climate neutrality 2035, to create appreciation for climate protection measures and to offer a climate prize. In general, the #jetztklimachen-Preis is to be used as a lever to show citizens how they can become active in climate protection themselves.

3. Entitlement to participate

All Stuttgart citizens, civil society initiatives, non-profit associations, organisations, Stuttgart schools and day-care centres or companies or start-ups based in Stuttgart can apply and participate. In the case of underage applicants, the application must be submitted by a responsible adult. Persons involved in the organisation, application and implementation of the #jetztklimachen-Preises and the jury members are excluded from participation. Municipal projects (i.e. administration and municipal affiliated companies with a majority shareholding of the city) are excluded from participation.

4. Participation in the project competition

Participation and application takes only a few minutes and takes place exclusively via the platform of the Klima-Community Stuttgart: www.klima-community.de/en/jetztklimachen-preis

This is a project competition. Projects that are in progress or have already been completed can be submitted, but also concrete project ideas for which implementation is in the concrete planning stage. In the case of projects that have already been completed, the end of the project may not be further back than 31.07.2021. The project should have an impact on Stuttgart. The application for the #jetztklimachen-Preis is free of charge.

The application must be meaningful. In addition to written information about the project (via questionnaire), photos, videos or further links are also helpful for a concrete presentation of the project. In order to ensure transparency, the applications submitted and entitled to participate will be published on the platform of the Klima-Community Stuttgart (www.klima-community.de) and perhaps a platform of the City of Stuttgart (www.jetztklimachen.stuttgart.de) after a formal check of the contents. By participating and applying, participants automatically agree to the publication of their contribution or project.

5. Declaration of the participants

Participants declare that their submission to the #jetztklimachen-Preis (for example photographs) does not violate the rights of third parties, in particular copyrights and personal rights. This also applies to obtaining consent for submission and subsequent publication if persons are recognisable in submitted photographs. With the submission, the City of Stuttgart and the Klima-Community Stuttgart are granted the right (but not the obligation) to publish the application. The participants assure that they are the owners of the necessary rights (in particular to the photographs and videos submitted).

6. Evaluation criteria

The applications are evaluated by a jury with regard to various criteria: scalability, impact, originality, the sustainability and climate protection aspect and a social factor are taken into account when the jury evaluates the projects.

7. Period of participation, jury and award ceremony

The deadline for entries is July 31, 2023. The applications will be assessed by a jury made up of representatives from administration, business, science, sport and gastronomy. The jury meeting will take place a few weeks after the end of the application period and the examination of the applications received, probably in September 2023. During a jury meeting, a decision will be made on the award-worthiness of the applications (for evaluation criteria, see 6.) and the three first-place winners will be determined. The applications can be viewed by the jury members on the Climate Community platform.

The following prizes will be awarded:

1st place: 3.000 Euro
2nd place: 2.000 Euro

3rd place: 1.000 Euro

There is no legal claim to an award. The legal process is excluded.

The award ceremony to honour the winning projects will probably take place on 22 September 2023 as part of the Long Night of Sustainability in Stuttgart. The winners and winning projects will be announced there; also on the platform of the Stuttgart Climate Community. The prize winners will also be personally notified of the prize by the City of Stuttgart using the email address provided by the participating person. The prize will not be awarded if the e-mail address provided is incorrect, so that no notification of the prize can be sent. The prize winners or winning projects must report back within 7 days to the e-mail address provided in the prize notification.

The prize is non-transferable. Payment will be made to a bank account specified by a prize-winner's representative.
