In the Kammertheater at Schauspiel Stuttgart you can see the play "Ein dunkles, dunkles, dunkles Blau" by Simon Stephens on many evenings until March 10, 2024. The play was directed by Elmar Goerden. You can find all information and tickets here: https://www.schauspiel-stuttgart.de/spielplan/a-z/ein-dunkles-dunkles-dunkles-blau/

Schauspiel Stuttgart invites you to see the play with the following summary: "In his psychological relationship drama, Simon Stephens tells of family tragedies against the backdrop of climate change and intergenerational conflicts. While the youth feel abandoned by their parents and come to nothing in their search and longing, the fathers' generation, torn apart by their failed life plans and their outdated scripts, retreats into solitude and falls silent. They all find themselves homeless and abandoned in a world that has become alien to them."

The author researched for his play on walks in Stuttgart, notes die-deutsche-buehne.de. His notebook, excerpts of which are printed in the program booklet, contains many impressions that are reflected in the dialogues and scenic material of the production. An interpretative approach can also be discerned when he notes: "I want to write about characters who need a god and can't believe in angels."

Conclusion of the weekly newspaper Der Freitag: "Death, when it approaches, threatens to overwhelm everything with tragedy. With Simon Stephen's 'A Dark, Dark, Dark Blue', Elmar Goerden wrests love, dance and lightness from it at Schauspiel Stuttgart. A beautiful, beautiful, beautiful play."
