German Sustainability Award 2024 for Klinikum Stuttgart: recognition for outstanding achievements in ecological and social sustainability

Our congratulations go to Klinikum Stuttgart: it has been awarded the German Sustainability Award 2024. The award is based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the German government's sustainability strategy.

Klinikum Stuttgart is being honored for its pioneering achievements in the areas of ecological and social sustainability. As a pioneer on the way to becoming a "Green Hospital", the hospital has anchored sustainability as a central corporate goal. The hospital actively contributes to the state capital's climate strategy and was one of the first hospitals in Germany to commit to standardized sustainability reporting. Its commitment ranges from efficient combined heat and power plants, renewable energy generation and environmentally friendly mobility to the avoidance of climate-damaging anaesthetic gases.

Baden-Württemberg's Minister for Social Affairs and Integration, Manne Lucha, praises: "Klinikum Stuttgart deserves the highest recognition". For the CEO of Klinikum Stuttgart, Prof. Jan Steffen Jürgensen, the award is an incentive: "We still have a lot of room for improvement and want to improve quickly."

Klinikum Stuttgart takes a structured approach to sustainability, from ecological construction measures to social measures for its more than 8,000 employees. The award is not only a recognition of the work carried out, but also a confirmation of the importance and successful orientation of the clinic towards the goals of sustainability.

Klinikum Stuttgart includes Katharinenhospital, Bad Cannstatt Hospital and Olgahospital.
