The City of Stuttgart has now released the final report of the Citizens' Council on Climate, presenting key recommendations and findings of the panel to address the climate crisis and promote sustainable actions for the city. The report reflects the participation and engagement of the citizenry and emphasizes the urgency to implement environmentally friendly solutions in various aspects of city life.

The total of 26 recommendations from the Citizens' Climate Council emphasize, among other things, the importance of a comprehensive transportation shift to reduce emissions and improve the quality of life in the city. These include proposals to promote public transport, cycling and electric mobility. The Citizens' Council also emphasizes the importance of more green spaces, urban greening and sustainable urban planning.

Another focus of the report is the need to reduce energy consumption in buildings and promote the expansion of renewable energies. Citizens recommend increased efforts to promote energy saving measures and switching to renewable energy sources to minimize CO2 emissions.

Involving citizens* in decision-making processes and promoting education and awareness in the area of climate protection are also central themes of the report. The Citizens' Council suggests establishing dialogue platforms to ensure continuous communication and cooperation between the city administration and the population.

In the documentation of the recommendations, the transparent presentation of pros & cons, the interesting comments ("What else is important to us") and the exact voting results of the panel are to be emphasized (here below you can see, for example, the pros & cons on the topic of mobility, 1st recommendation).

But make your own picture. Here you can find the report, which also contains interesting insights into methodology and decision-making: www.stuttgart.de/buergerinnen-und-buerger/buergerrat-klima/aktuelles/der-abschlussbericht-des-buergerrats-klima.php.

In the foreword to the report, the participants emphasize: "Now the local council and the city administration are challenged to follow their words with actions."
