Heat pumps can make an essential contribution to the heat transition, as they cause up to 90% less CO2 emissions than oil and gas heating systems. Since the purchase costs of heat pumps are somewhat higher than those of conventional heating systems, the city of Stuttgart supports private households that install electric heat pumps in their building with a special subsidy program.

This subsidy applies to both new and existing buildings. The subsidy amount is adapted to the rated power of the heat pump.
