Today is Valentine's Day: for weeks the supermarkets have been full of chocolate in the shape of hearts, florists have been advertising flower arrangements and bouquets, and in general the day is perceived by many of us as being strongly linked to consumption.

So how could you make your loved one happy today in a sustainable way? I've thought about it a bit and put together a few last-minute ideas:

- DIY: A love letter, specially folded origami flowers or self-made vouchers - surprise your partner and show your creative streak!

- Give the gift of time: for example, a home-cooked dinner (preferably vegan, seasonal and regional).

- A sponsorship - for example, for the favorite animal on the nearest animal sanctuary or a tree sponsorship.

- Donate together: Maybe you don't like Valentine's Day, but can spare a certain amount of money? Then think together about what you would like to donate to (even small amounts help!). Of course you can also donate objects or clothes.
Especially people from Turkey and Syria urgently need humanitarian support of any kind.

Happy Valentine's Day!
