I was just in a garden market to get a few basics for the now started planting season. I noticed how many visitors buy expensive new plants for their garden or balcony. Thereby the question of the lastingness arises - straight with view of the (industrial) cultivation of the flower sticks and plants sold there (with in each case new plastic pots u. with fertilizer insert) and the transport of the plants.

So why not propagate the plants that you already have on the balcony, terrace and in the garden via cuttings? Most of them bloom in summer and sprout properly - for example, the geranium often seen on balconies. This is an ideal time to propagate your favorite greenery with cuttings. This can be done relatively easily with many plants if you follow a few rules. On this page you will find a good overview: https://www.plantura.garden/gartenpraxis/vermehrung/pflanzen-fuer-die-stecklingsvermehrung.

You don't really need much in the way of materials: a few old flower pots, a pair of (garden) scissors and some growing soil.

The cuttings are put into the soil, watered and placed in a bright (but not direct sun) and warm place. A foil is stretched over the cuttings as an evaporation protection over the pot. Over individual pots you can also put garbage bags or a cut PET bottle. You can see how this looks here: www.gartenzeitung.com/pflanzenlexikon/vermehren-vermehrung/vermehrung-stecklinge/.

After about three to four weeks roots will form. Depending on the rooting strength, you can then transplant/ repot the plant to its final location.

Have fun trying it out!
