The first City Innovation Lab Stuttgart took place on June 21. The City Innovation Lab offers space for innovative ideas and joint projects by and for Stuttgart companies. The goal is cooperative solutions for a sustainable city.

In the innovation field "sustainable city", the project idea of creating "Green Islands Stuttgart" has emerged. The idea is to bring together various building blocks in such a way that "green islands" are created in the midst of hectic everyday life and invite people to linger. Building blocks could be, for example:

- Greening of facades

- gastronomic offers for healthy, fresh and/or vegetable food

- Urban oases such as unsealed and accessible backyards, urban (roof) gardens, etc.

- organizations that focus on neighborhood energy

- Circular economy approaches (eco-design, vintage/re-use, waste prevention)

- Intelligent land use, for example for local supply (vertical farming)

- Educational offers around sustainability and climate protection

- contributions to transport infrastructure, such as bicycle parking in front of stores and cafés or charging infrastructure

- Places to linger and shade, such as benches and greenery

- Drinking water offerings, such as refill stations or drinking water dispensers in stores.

The ideas aim to create quality of experience, neo-German "Experiences". Local cooperations in squares or streets are suitable for this purpose. How the idea is further developed is the task of follow-up meetings. Do you want to be part of it? Then write to us or leave a comment here.
