On March 31, the climate community met with co2online in the cozy Café NATAN to talk about the many great offers and plans that co2online has to offer for the Stuttgarter:innen. Thank you for the exciting insights!

Climate Community: Co2online is a non-profit consulting company that has been educating people about saving energy and protecting the climate for 20 years. Why is it important to advise and inform citizens:inside?

Co2Online: Exactly, we are a digital and free consumer portal on the subject of climate protection and energy saving in the area of buildings and housing, where particularly many emissions occur. Our main topics are electricity and heating energy savings, modernization and construction, and the appropriate subsidies.

On average, around 3 tons of CO2 are consumed per year for electricity, heating and hot water (= approx. 25% of the personal CO2 footprint). This is not only a burden for the climate, but also for the wallet.

The willingness of people to take action is high. However, identifying the individually appropriate measures is often a challenge. We show consumers effective climate protection measures that fit their personal situation - and how to implement them.

We support them from the moment they make their decision to the successful implementation of the measures, especially with the help of our free online calculators: These enable consumers to quickly and easily determine where they can save energy and money. From the consumption of electricity or heating energy to larger investments such as the energy-efficient refurbishment of a building.

We explain to you how to proceed step by step and find the appropriate subsidies. We connect you with competent craftsmen, energy consultants and other experts for the successful implementation of your measures.

Climate community: With "Stuttgart cracks the 10%", co2online now also has a campaign aimed specifically at Stuttgart citizens. How did this initiative come about and what is the goal of the campaign?

Co2Online: With our new campaign "Stuttgart cracks the 10%!" we advise and accompany Stuttgart citizens to save energy effectively and measurably.

The campaign is aimed primarily at tenants. They are particularly affected by the consequences of the energy crisis and climate change, but have less room for maneuver than landlords or property owners.

And because Stuttgart is a city of tenants - 450,000 of the city's 600,000 inhabitants live in rented accommodation - there is great potential to offer individualized advisory services specifically for this group, complementing the existing services on energy saving, renting and buildings in Stuttgart.

The core of the campaign is therefore our free, digital Energy Saving Checks, which can be found on our central campaign website www.stuttgart-zehn-prozent.de. In addition, we provide concrete and easy-to-implement tips - with a percentage indication of how much energy each measure saves. By combining several tips, tenants can save at least 10% CO2, energy and money.

In this way, the campaign also contributes to the climate goals of the city of Stuttgart. That is why we are also supported by the Stuttgart Climate Innovation Fund. We are very happy that there is such a great funding offer in Stuttgart.

Climate Community: What can each:r individual of us do to save energy and contribute to climate protection?

Co2Online: Much more than most people realize!

Many people don't know their own energy-saving potential and therefore feel helpless. They think it is very complicated, time-consuming and expensive. With "Stuttgart cracks the 10%!" we want to show that saving energy is easy and really pays off.

In any case, step 1 is to know and classify your own energy consumption. Our online tools "StromCheck" (electricity check) and "HeizCheck" (heating check), which we offer free of charge on our website, can help you do this. With the checks, you can quickly and easily see whether you consume a lot compared to other people in a similar living situation and where you still have potential for savings.

The measures that can then be implemented often cost little or nothing: In the area of electricity, for example, unplugging consistently alone saves around 21 percent electricity and 167 euros a year. And hanging laundry on the line instead of throwing it in the dryer saves 12 percent electricity and 96 euros a year.

The potential for heating is similarly large: Proper ventilation alone saves 6 percent energy and about 40 euros a year. Lowering the room temperature by 1 degree Celsius saves another 6 percent.

In total, this really adds up over the year. You can easily save a few hundred euros per household.

And most importantly, these tips not only save you money, but also CO2 - so you're also doing something for the climate.

Climate Community: Do you have any other initiatives planned for Stuttgart? If so, what can we look forward to?

Co2Online: Absolutely, we have a lot planned for the coming months!

Now, in April, we're launching our big new theme of saving electricity: On our website and on our social media channels, Stuttgart tenants will find concrete tips on how to save electricity and background information, for example on the electricity price brake or green electricity. In keeping with the theme, we are also planning a photo competition with a great grand prize - so stay tuned and take a look at our website.

Last week also saw the launch of our new Energy Scouts project, which we are implementing in cooperation with the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences (HfWU). In this project, students are testing a low-threshold approach to energy-saving advice in Stuttgart tenant households. We are very much looking forward to this project and are excited to see what the students will experience.

In the further course of the campaign, we will also address the topics of cooling/heat protection and hot water. Here, too, there are numerous tips that tenants can use to save energy and money.

In all our actions, we are supported by numerous partners, such as the Energy Advice Center, the Office for Environmental Protection, the Tenants' Association of Stuttgart and of course you as the climate community, who help us to make our campaign even better known.

And we are still in the process of expanding our network. In Stuttgart, there are already many great players who are doing something for climate protection with innovative concepts. By supporting each other, we can best reach people.
