The global textile industry is strongly linked to environmental pollution and exploitative working conditions. The Clean Clothes Campaign Germany e.V. is working for a transformation. Thanks to @Silke Wedemeier for the interview!

KC: What is the Clean Clothes Campaign?

SW: The Clean Clothes Campaign is an international network that campaigns for workers* rights, fair working conditions and a living wage in the supply chains of the textile and footwear industry. The German Clean Clothes Campaign Deutschland e.V. is part of the international network of theClean Clothes Campaign (CCC). The Stuttgart regional group is committed to the CCC's goals at the local level.

KC: What should you pay particular attention to when buying new clothes?

SW: One should pay attention to the following things:

- Consume more consciously, do I really need the part?
- Do not buy cheap bargains
- Pay attention to durability and quality

- A list of seals and their rating according to the traffic light colors. Seals from A-Z. For cotton, the GOTS (The Global Organic Textile Standard) and Fairtrade seals are important, but there are no seals that guarantee fair working conditions and living wages.

- A list of green fashion can be found at the CIR (Christl.Initiatve Romero) one of the supporting organizations of the CCC: www.gruenemode.org.

KC: How can you support the Clean Clothes Campaign?

SW: You can support us in the following ways:

- Join the regional group :) Usually online or face-to-face meetings once a month. Contact: Stuttgart regional group, mail: ccc.regionalgruppe-stuttgart@gaia.de. We organize clothing swap parties, lectures, film screenings, school projects, cooperations with other groups, etc.

- Subscribe to the CCC Germany newsletter: www.saubere-kleidung.de/newsletter

- write to companies that do not offer fair and just working conditions and make the customer point of view that this is important visible.
