KC: How did the KM come about and who is behind the KM Stuttgart?

Carola (Kidical Mass): The Kidical Mass is a worldwide movement. It has existed in Germany since 2017, and in Stuttgart since 2018.
A colorful bicycle demo where children can cycle in the city once a month in a relaxed and safe way. The routes are easy and can also be done with a running bike. The bike tour is accompanied by the police, so a safe and relaxed ride is guaranteed. The goal is that children can move safely and independently by bike in the city. Therefore, we demand a traffic policy that takes the concerns of children more into account. The Kidical Mass Stuttgart is organized on a voluntary basis by an open team. Different people, colorfully mixed, who contribute their interests, skills and abilities to the planning and implementation of the bike tour. The Stuttgart branch council works closely with our partner associations ADFC and VCD.

KC: What do you wish for Stuttgart to become more bike-friendly?

Carola (Kidical Mass): We would like to see a structurally separated, safe and coherent network of bike paths that also allows children to be mobile in the city by bike. It is an important experience for children to discover their own mobility. To learn to cover their distances independently.
The city should pay special attention to the safety of kindergarten and school routes.
If our city is so safe that children can move freely in it, then everyone can move safely and freely.

KC: How do you plan to use the prize money?

Patrick (Kidical Mass): To achieve our goals, we want to be present with many rides all over Stuttgart. Therefore we need new information material and demo equipment. Specifically, we would like to use the prize money to finance some of our surprises at the end of the season and to repair our mobile information stand, where unfortunately the wheels are damaged.
